June 3rd - 5th - Long Weekend in Paris ![]()
Drove to Paris on the Friday night, spending Saturday and Sunday in Paris, home on the Monday. Notre Dame Cathedral was the first stop.
Place de la Concorde, this is where the King and Queen of France (and others) had their head chopped off with the guillotine after the Revolution.
Bridge over the river Seine, near the New and Old Palaces.
Hotel des Invalides, where Napoleon is buried, followed by the bridge where Princess Diana was killed.
Arc de Triomphe. View looking towards Montmarte and Sacre Coeur.
Eiffel Tower.
Chateau Versailles. Built by King Louis 14th, it is an amazing place to see.
Back in Paris for a quick rest at Starbucks!! Market in Montmarte on the way up to Sacre Coeur church. The Moulin Rouge and the Paris Opera House.
On the way back to Germany, we stopped at an American World War I cemetery. The US pays to have a fulltime carer at more than a dozen cemetaries. Reims Cathedral which is where the Kings of France used to be coronated and then finally Sinsheim museum, which has added one of the Concordes to its collection recently, taken from out the car window on the autobahn!
June 7th - Bergkirchweih
After the Octoberfest in Munich, the festival right here in Erlangen is supposedly the next best, even better as there aren't all the tourists. Bergkirchweih means 'mountain church festival', usual dancing, music, food and big steins of beer.

June 24th - Frankische Schweiz
Day trip only an hour away. This is a lovely area known for its mountains, villages and castles. The 3rd photo shows one of the villages that is built into the rocks. The last 2 show the toboggan ride Aidan and Mark went on. There is a cave nearby that we will come back to another day.
